Students protesting the decision to hold the HSC examinations despite persistent rainfall and widespread waterlogging have once again blocked the Science Lab intersection in the capital.

The protesters resumed their demonstration at around 3:45 pm on Tuesday, gathering at the Science Lab intersection and staging a fresh road blockade.

Earlier in the day, at around 11:45 am, HSC examinees began a blockade at the same intersection before marching toward the Dhaka Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board.

At around 12:45 pm, the procession reached the area in front of Haji Muhammad Mohsin Hall at the University of Dhaka, where police stopped them. The protesters later continued their march via Palashi toward the education board at around 1:45 pm.

The students remained in front of the education board from approximately 2:30 pm to 3:30 pm. They later returned to the Science Lab intersection and resumed their road blockade.

Professor Syed Akhtaruzzaman, president of the Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee and chairman of the Dhaka Education Board, said that after the students gathered in front of the board, officials invited them to a discussion. According to him, the protesters initially said that a delegation of five to seven representatives would meet with the board authorities, but they left without holding the talks.

During the demonstration, the students accused the Education Minister of making derogatory remarks and chanted various slogans, including: “Who are you? Who are we? Farm chickens,” “Who said it? Who said it? The Education Minister,” “One demand, one goal—the Education Minister’s resignation,” “Light the fire,” and “No compromise, only struggle.”
